Meadow design & installation:
check out Yvonne's
successful wildflower meadow is
easy. Grab a shovel and
head out to your future meadow site. Dig a small hole and
grab a handful of the earth.
Squeeze your handful tightly and then open your hand.
If the soil falls apart quicky, you've got sand.
If it stays together in a ball, you've got clay.
If it feels soft and crumbly and is easy to work
then you have loam. Now you know your soil type.
Have a look around. Is it a sunny open area?
Or is it part shaded? Next,
measure the length and width of
the area you wish to seed.
Multiply length x width to get
the total square feet.
Now that you know
your soil type, sunlight conditions and the size of the meadow
you want to create look
at the seed mixes listed below and
pick the seed mix that is best
suited for your
careful planning, good site preparation and some
well timed maintenance, your
wildflower meadow will return
year after year providing you
with a non-stop show of flowers from spring through fall!
All of our
wildflower seed mixes are
designed using the ecological
principles found in nature, using
perennial native species that are hardy from zone 3 to 9. We harvest seed from plants grown on our farm.
We do not harvest from the wild.
Our mixes come with detailed instructions and contain 100% clean pure
seed only. No fluff. No chaff. No
fillers. No nonsense.
