Cupplant - Silphium
perfoliatum
The large pointed leaves of the
Cup Plant join its square shaped stems forming
cups that catch and store rainwater so birds and
butterflies often come for a drink and
hummingbirds regularly visit. In the fall,
goldfinches descend upon the plants to devour the
seeds. The Cup Plant occurs naturally in moist
environments but does very well when planted in
the garden.

GERMINATION INFO |
Cold, moist
stratification. Mix seed with moist but
not wet, sterile growing medium. Place
mixture in a labeled, sealed plastic bag
and store in refridgerator for six to
eight weeks. Note: Some seed may
germinate in the storage bag if moist
stratified too long. If sprouting occurs,
plant immediately. Another method is to
sow seed outdoors in late autumn so that
they may overwinter.
Approx. 1,400 seeds per oz. - 25 seeds per pack
