This is one of our most familiar
and beautiful wildflowers. It has fascinating
hollow spur-like flowers that appear to be two
flowers in one; an inner yellow flower that is
surrounded by an elegantly spurred red outer
flower. Hummingbirds find it irresistable!
Blooming in late spring, it reaches a height of 2
to 3 feet. It does best in dappled shade, but
grows easily in full sun.
SEED
GERMINATION INFO
Cold, moist
stratification. Mix seed with moist but
not wet, sterile growing medium. Place
mixture in a labeled, sealed plastic bag
and store in refridgerator for six to
eight weeks. Note: Some seed may
germinate in the storage bag if moist
stratified too long. If sprouting occurs,
plant immediately. Another method is to
sow seed outdoors in late autumn so that
they may overwinter. Approx. 38,000 seeds per oz. - 100 seeds per pack
