Naturally found in low-lying areas
at the edge of swamps and ponds, Red Milkweed
produces rich clusters of deep rose-purple to
pale-rose colored flowers from June through
August. One of the very best food plants for
Monarch Butterfly larvae, the caterpillars will
eat the leaves right off! But don't worry, the
reward is all the butterflies that come later.
Plant some this year to attract Monarchs to your
garden!
SEED
GERMINATION INFO
Cold, moist
stratification. Mix seed with moist but
not wet, sterile growing medium. Place
mixture in a labeled, sealed plastic bag
and store in refridgerator for six to
eight weeks. Note: Some seed may
germinate in the storage bag if moist
stratified too long. If sprouting occurs,
plant immediately. Another method is to
sow seed outdoors in late autumn so that
they may overwinter. Approx. 4,800 seeds per oz. - 30 seeds per pack
