Naturally found in thin woods or
alongside woodland streams this very showy plant
produces clusters of dark indigo blue,
lupine-like flowers on long stems in the early
summer with handsome bluish-green foliage that is
striking when used in floral arrangements. A
major butterfly attractor, it hosts the Orange
Sulphur, Clouded Sulphur, Frosted Elfin, Eastern
Tailed Blue, Hoary Edge, and Wild Indigo
Duskywing Butterflies. Growing in full sun or
partial shade, this easy to grow plant has a very
deep tap-root and does not transplant well once
established.
SEED
GERMINATION INFO
Cold, moist
stratification. Mix seed with moist but
not wet, sterile growing medium. Place
mixture in a labeled, sealed plastic bag
and store in refridgerator for six to
eight weeks. Note: Some seed may
germinate in the storage bag if moist
stratified too long. If sprouting occurs,
plant immediately. Another method is to
sow seed outdoors in late autumn so that
they may overwinter. Approx. 1,500 seeds per oz. - 25 seeds per pack
