Site Selection

Site selection is the first step towards creating a beautiful, long-living, wildflower meadow so take some time to walk through the area you wish to sow your wildflower meadow and get to know more about it. Most wildflower meadows require at least 6 hours of sunshine a day although some will do just fine with partly shaded sites.

Have a look around.

Is it a sunny open area? Is it near a forest that will create shade? Is it dry? Are there areas that are naturally moist? What is growing on the land now? Is this an old weedy field that no one has touched for years? Or has it been used for crops? What is growing beside the area you wish to plant? What type of soil do you have? Is it sandy? Clay? Or do you have rich, black loam? No matter what your site conditions are we have a seed mix that's perfect for your property. Be sure to measure the length and width of the area. Multiply length x width to get the total square feet (or meters) of the area.

The more you know about the your site, the easier it will be for you to begin the process of preparing the land for the seed and the easier it will be for you to select the best seed mix for the specific site conditions of your property.
