Oenothera biennis - Evening Primrose

This biennial species commonly found in dry meadows and along roadsides gets its common name "Evening Primrose" from its lemon scented, primrose-yellow flowers that open at dusk and close by noon the next day. Early settlers in North America cultivated Oenothera biennis for its nutritious roots.
