Thumbnail Filmstrip of Eryngium yuccifolium - Rattlesnake Master Images
Rattlesnake Master is an unusual plant that creates tremendous interest in the landscape. Its spiny-edged silvery green leaves resemble a desert Yucca and it produces showy thistle-like flower heads on long stalks that are at first light blue but become white or silvery as they mature and are attractive all season long - well into the fall! Native peoples brewed a tea from the root as an antidote to rattlesnake venom. Established Eryngium yuccifolium plants should not be disturbed due to the taproot formed by the plant.
